The?private space telescope?forms the heart of Project Sentinel, a deep-space mission being unveiled today (June 28) in Mountain View, Calif., by the B612 Foundation, a nonprofit group of scientists and explorers that has long advocated the exploration of asteroids and better space rock monitoring.

Project Sentinel involves the development of a super-snooper telescope that would be placed in orbit around the sun. The goal, foundation officials say, is to create the first comprehensive dynamic map of our inner solar system.

That map would yield a lively look at the present and future locations and trajectories of?near-Earth asteroids, paving the way to protecting the Earth from future impacts and opening the solar system to future exploration. [Sentinel Space Telescope's Asteroid Mission (Pictures)]??

An asteroid sentinel in space

Ed Lu is B612 chairman and CEO, a former NASA astronaut who has flown on the space shuttle and Russia's Soyuz capsule and lived aboard the International Space Station.

"The reason we?re doing this is because we can!"Lu told SPACE.com

Private organizations can now carry out awe-inspiring and audacious projects that previously only governments could accomplish, Lu said.

"So it isn?t crazy to think of a large telescope being funded privately. In fact, historically, that has been the way large, private?telescopes here on Earth?have been funded. The exception here is that rather than being on the Earth, this one is orbiting the sun," Lu said.

A lot of work has gone into shaping Project Sentinel over the last year, Lu said. Akin to the architectural plans for a building, he said, a preliminary spacecraft and mission design is complete.

"This isn?t a viewgraph," Lu added."What we?ve built is the best technical team on this planet."

A firm fixed-price proposal to carry out Project Sentinel has been submitted by Ball Aerospace of Boulder, Colo., enabled in part by early infrared-detector work funded by B612.

No stranger to big space scopes, Ball Aerospace is the technical sparkplug behind such NASA-sponsored spacecraft as theplanet-hunting Kepler mission?and the infrared Spitzer Space Telescope.

Under a NASA Space Act Agreement signed with B612, the space agency will provide Deep Space Network communications and tracking as well as technical support.

Hunting asteroids for all mankind

Project Sentinel would complete its near-Earth object (NEO) survey work in 5.5 years.

"The line in the sand is for the spacecraft to find 90 percent of near-Earth objects larger than 140 meters [459 feet] in size. That translates into approximately a 100-megaton explosion should one hit the Earth," Lu said. "If we go as long as we think we?re going to go, we?re also going to find the vast majority of Tunguskas, too." [7 Strangest Asteroids in the Solar System]

The Tunguska River in remote Siberia was the site directly under a huge explosion in 1908, an air burst of a large meteoroid or comet fragment estimated to have flattened more than 80 million trees over 830 square miles (2,150 square kilometers).

According to B612, only about 10,000 of the more than half million asteroids ?larger than the?1908 Tunguska asteroidwhose orbits cross Earth?s orbit have been discovered and tracked.

Project Sentinel would find and road-map Earth-bound asteroids with sufficient warning time ? years to decades ? to enable deflection missions.

This all adds up to an awe-inspiring project for the global good, the B612 NEO team said.

Space telescope price tag

What?s the cost to build the Project Sentinel telescope?

"We can?t disclose the final price, but I can give you a ballpark of a few hundred million dollars. Which is, I think, a factor of several less than what NASA could do this for," Lu said.

To foot the bill for Project Sentinel, a worldwide fundraising campaign is being implemented, including outreach to citizens around the globe.

"Our constituency is everybody," said B612 spokeswoman Diane Murphy.

"If you think about it, what we are is a small capital campaign," Lu said. "At any given time in the United States, there?s probably a hundred fundraising campaigns larger than this ? for symphony halls, museums, performing arts centers."

Data pipeline set

As now forecast, Project Sentinel would be launched in 2016 aboard a?SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, Lu said. The spacecraft operations center is to be based at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Project Sentinel would require a gravity slingshot off Venus to enter solar orbit. Data relay would be carried out through the NASA Deep Space Network. Data analysis ? identification of NEO threats ? is to be handled through an existing data pipeline at the Minor Planet Center in Cambridge, Mass., and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.

"When you stand back from this, ? this is like the whole issue of mapping the U.S, and almost everything else that precedes real development and exploration," said former astronaut Rusty Schweickart, B612 chairman emeritus, who was the lunar module pilot on the Apollo 9 mission.

"The meta-view of what we?re doing ? is mapping the Earth, sun, the inner solar system ? the Earth Territory, if you will," Schweickart said. That, he said, would pave the way toward protecting the Earth from impacts and opening the solar system to exploration. ??

Legacy space systems

"An exciting aspect of Ball?s role on Sentinel is leveraging sophisticated technology developed under the Deep Impact, Spitzer, and Kepler missions for the B612 Foundation," said John Troeltzsch, the company?s Sentinel Program manager.

Troeltzsch told SPACE.com the aerospace firm will reuse deep-space elements the company helped pioneer. For the privately funded mission, that could include the science-downlink technology flown on Kepler and the cryogenic thermal-isolation system from the?Spitzer Space Telescope.

The Sentinel ground system will build on the system in daily use by the Kepler mission, which is supplied to Ball by the LASP at Colorado-Boulder.

"Ball has been working on the mission concept for a?NEO survey mission?like Sentinel since 2005. This has allowed us to refine and iterate the design to a state of maturity that supports a commercial offering to B612," Troeltzsch said. "Although there are challenges in front of us, like the development of the focal plane detectors, the overall system is based on proven, high-heritage systems."

Troeltzsch said it?s not every day you can have fun working on a powerful space telescope and help protect the planet at the same time.

?Sooner or later one of the NEOs that Sentinel will discover will end up on a?collision course with the Earth. I am sure that my kids and grandkids will appreciate the foresight B612 has shown in sponsoring this mission to help protect us all,? Troeltzsch concluded.

Leonard David has been reporting on the space industry for more than five decades. He is a winner of last year's National Space Club Press Award and former editor-in-chief of the National Space Society's Ad Astra and Space World magazines. He has written for SPACE.com since 1999.

Endangered Hawaiian birds expand range

Three of Hawaii's rarest birds have been detected at lower elevations along the volcanic summits for the first time in 30 years, a sign the endangered species may be holding their own against introduced diseases and climate change, scientists say.

Avian malaria and pox virus, two introduced mosquito-borne pathogens, limit the habitat of many susceptible Hawaiian birds to areas above the range of mosquitoes. Scientists are concerned warming conditions could allow mosquitoes to expand their range, thus hitting birds even harder and driving more of the endangered birds to extinction.

Scientists with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Geological Survey rediscovered the birds as part of a project looking at the potential impact of climate change on bird diseases.

All of the rediscovered species, which live in the Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge on the big island of Hawaii, are thought to be vulnerable to mosquito-transmitted diseases, limiting their distribution to the cooler, higher elevations of the refuge where mosquitoes are less likely to thrive. Observations of the birds show they've significantly expanded their known range.

Scientists heard the songs of the Hawaii Creeper and Hawaii 'Akepa at 4,200 feet (1,280 meters) above sea level, very near where they were last seen in the 1970s. One endangered 'Akiapola'au was also seen at the same elevation, 1,000 feet (305 m) lower than detected 30 years ago.

Scientists don't know what's allowed the birds to survive at lower elevations than expected, although they are currently conducting research to find out.

"Hawaii's native birds face multiple threats from habitat destruction, invasive species, introduced diseases and climate change, with many already having been driven to extinction," said U.S. Geological Survey Director Marcia McNutt in a statement. "The observation of three endangered species possibly expanding their range in a wildlife refuge gives us hope that with some care, the road to extinction need not be a one-way street."

Four-team college football playoff is approved

WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Across a stage stood the men of college football revolution, clad in gray suits and conservative ties, their words harkening to a time when sports were a simpler place and 21st- century money didn't demand a pro sports solution to the quandary of determining a champion.

"What took you so long?" the BCS Presidential Oversight Committee was asked on the day it approved a college football playoff.

"We're presidents," one finally said.

That is why no one should view Tuesday's approval of a four-game playoff as an the entrance to something more. Getting the presidents to four games took enough work. Getting them to eight or 16 or 24 probably is impossible. At least for the 12 years this current contract lasts. Four is four.

Asked what broke his resolve to keep football forever locked in a bowl system, Virginia Tech President Charles Steger said the sport "needed to be more energized."

This is not an endorsement for wild change. The men who made the playoffs happen will not step further into an abyss they do not want. Their world is one of professors and academics. They don't watch sports with the same zeal as the fans who live for Saturdays in autumn. They see December exam schedules and second semesters that start in January. They don't want football to become a two-semester sport.

[Related: Les Carpenter: Presidents sign off on four-team playoff system]

And they live in terror of concussions.

It was clear Tuesday the presidents see football's looming concussion crisis in a different way than their athletic people. Conference commissioners at the Dupont Circle Hotel expressed the same requisite concern over player safety as their NFL counterparts, quickly brushing off the topic with suggestions that more study is needed. Several presidents in the room sounded far more alarmed.

"For me, [the concussion issue] is major," Oregon State President Ed Ray told Yahoo! Sports after the announcement. "To say it's easy to add games, I don't think so."

Football fans might not care much about the concussion issue that is raging in the NFL now, but college presidents still read newspapers. Many of them oversee departments that study concussions. Their social circles include scientists whose primary pursuit is the brain. Extra playoff games mean extra chances to get hurt. Extra chances to get hurt mean lawsuits and a lifetime of guilt that perhaps they signed off on something that extended the danger farther than it should have gone.

"I think that's the biggest worry we all have in making this decision," Nebraska Chancellor Harvey Perlman told Yahoo! Sports. "That's a deal-killer for many presidents, I think."

Several times in recent years, when the talk turned to a football playoff, the presidents said they raised concern about head trauma, also asking about other conditions such as serious knee and neck injuries that could lead to complications later in life. The data about former players suffering early-onset dementia and Alzheimer's bothered them in ways it might not have disturbed others.

They said questions were raised when they agreed to add a 12th game to the regular season, and those worries only increased when suggestions of eight- and 16-team playoffs came up. The idea of players risking injury in as many as four extra games was too much, and so the playoff conversations stopped until something more manageable could be found.

"I don't think there was much enthusiasm to go beyond four teams," Perlman said.

[Also: Les Carpenter: FCS player's incredible catch caught NFL team's attention]

"That was one of the things I was worried about," Steger said when asked about concussions, adding that he was only comfortable with a four-team playoff.

In many ways college football has dodged the NFL's concussion debate. Lawsuits generally have focused on professional team's responsibilities even though most NFL teams rarely run heavy contact practices during the season while college teams take advantage of huge rosters and encourage their players to tackle as if they were playing in games.

More playoff games mean more practices. More practices mean more chances for players to bang their helmets into each other or on the ground. And more helmet hits means more concussions. That is basic? math few of the presidents are ready to consider.

"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to say this is a different sport than many of the others," Ray said. "This isn't like baseball where you can play lots of games."

He stopped and looked around the room at the other presidents and conference commissioners who were discussing the details of a playoff that probably will not grow any bigger anytime soon.

"You know," he said. "It's not all about the money."

That was something to understand about the men who agreed to change the game Tuesday. They're never going to go as far as everybody else wants.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska ? The wreckage of a military plane found near Knik Glacier?earlier this month has been identified as a Korean War-era Air Force cargo plane that crashed in the 1950s, killing all 52 people on board, NBC?station KTUU?of Anchorage reported Wednesday.

The identification brings closure to victims' families after nearly 60 years, KTUU said.

Joint POW-MIA Accounting Command spokesperson Capt. Jamie Dobson said?the wreckage,?discovered June 10 on Colony Glacier, about 45 miles east of Anchorage,?by a UH-60 Blackhawk crew with the Alaska Army National Guard-- is that of a Douglas C-124A Globemaster II that crashed?on Nov. 22, 1952.

The Globemaster II entered Air Force service in 1950 as the world?s largest transport plane. Its forward loading ramp and aft cargo elevator, as well as its ability to carry 68,500 pounds of cargo or 200 passengers on two decks of seating, made it the Air Force's primary heavy-lift transport into the early 1960s, KTUU reported.

The four-propeller transport was eventually replaced by the C-141 Starlifter jet, but its name lives on in Alaska skies with the C-17 Globemaster III, operated by the 517th Airlift Squadron at Anchorage?s Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Crash researcher Tonja Anderson, whose grandfather Airman Isaac Anderson died in the crash, told KTUU the cargo plane was on a flight from McChord Air Force Base in Washington to Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage when it crashed near the 8,000-foot level of Mount Gannett.

Scientists develop a spray-on battery

1 hr.

Scientists in the United States have developed a paint that can store and deliver electrical power just like a battery.?

Traditional lithium-ion batteries power most portable electronics. They are already pretty compact but limited to rectangular or cylindrical blocks.

Researchers at Rice University in Houston, Texas, have come up with a technique to break down each element of the traditional battery and incorporate it into a liquid that can be spray-painted in layers on virtually any surface.

"This means traditional packaging for batteries has given way to a much more flexible approach that allows all kinds of new design and integration possibilities for storage devices," said Pulickel Ajayan, who leads the team on the project.

The rechargeable battery is made from spray-painted layers, with each representing the components of a traditional battery: two current collectors, a cathode, an anode and a polymer separator in the middle.?

The paint layers were airbrushed onto ceramics, glass and stainless steel, and on diverse shapes such as the curved surface of a ceramic mug, to test how well they bond.

One limitation of the technology is in the use of difficult-to-handle liquid electrolytes and the need for a dry and oxygen-free environment when making the new device.?

The researchers are looking for components that would allow construction in the open air for a more efficient production process and greater commercial viability.

Neelam Singh, who worked on the project, believes the technology could be integrated with solar cells to give any surface a stand-alone energy capture and storage capability.

The researchers tested the device using nine bathroom tiles coated with the paint and connected to each other. When they were charged, the batteries powered a set of light-emitting diodes for six hours, providing a steady 2.4 volts.

The results of the study were published on Thursday in the journal Nature Scientific Reports.?

Body mass index signals if you?re overweight, obese or just right considering your height. Some doctors have begun calling it a vital sign, as crucial to monitor as blood pressure.

But apparently not enough doctors check: A government panel renewed a call Monday for every adult to be screened for obesity during checkups, suggesting more physicians should be routinely calculating their patients? BMIs.

And when someone crosses the line into obesity, the doctor needs to do more than mention a diet. It?s time to refer those patients for intensive nutrition-and-fitness help, say the guidelines issued by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.

Don?t assume your weight?s OK if the doctor doesn?t bring it up.

Patients ?should be asking what their BMI is, and tracking that over time,? says task force member Dr. David Grossman, medical director for preventive care at the Group Health Cooperative in Seattle.

By the numbers: A normal BMI is less than 25. Obesity begins at 30. In between is considered overweight. To calculate yours: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/.

The advice sounds like a no-brainer, considering the national anxiety about our growing waistlines. Two-thirds of adults are either overweight or obese. Some 17 percent of children and teens are obese, on the road to diabetes, heart disease and other ailments before they?re even grown.

The task force has recommended adult obesity screening previously, and similar guidelines urge tracking whether youngsters are putting on too many pounds.

How can I tell if I?m at a healthy weight?

Yet BMI remains a mystery for many people. A 2010 survey of members of the American Academy of Family Physicians found up to 40 percent of those primary care doctors were computing their patients? BMIs. Surveys show only about a third of obese patients recall their doctor counseling them about weight loss, even though people whose doctors discuss the problem are more likely to do something about it.

Doctors can struggle with the pounds, too, and Johns Hopkins University researchers recently reported that overweight physicians were less likely than skinnier ones to advise their patients about weight loss.

Why the reluctance? One reason: Few doctors are trained to treat obesity, they?re discouraged by yo-yo dieting but they don?t know what to advise, says Dr. Glen Stream, president of the physicians? group. His Spokane, Wash., practice uses electronic medical records that automatically calculate BMI when a patient?s height and weight is entered.

?Our American culture is always looking for an easy fix, a pill for every problem,? Stream says. ?The updated recommendation is important because it makes clear exactly what doctors should do to help.?

In Monday?s Annals of Internal Medicine, the task force concluded high-intensity behavioral interventions are the best non-surgical advice for the obese, citing insufficient evidence about lasting effects from weight-loss medications.

The task force?s Grossman says a good progress

?Includes 12 to 26 face-to-face meetings over a year, most in the first few months.

?Makes patients set realistic weight-loss goals. Losing just 5 percent of your initial weight ? 10 pounds for a 200-pound person ? can significantly improve health.

?Analyzes what blocks each patient from reaching those goals. Do they eat high-calorie comfort foods to deal with depression? Spend too much time at a desk job?

?Tailors ways to help people integrate physical activity into their daily routine.

?Requires self-monitoring, such as a food diary or a pedometer to track activity.

Last year, Medicare started paying primary care doctors for obesity screening and weight-loss counseling for seniors for a year, including weekly meetings for the first month.

But many insurance companies don?t pay for all the suggested interventions, and comprehensive programs aren?t available everywhere, says Dr. Scott Kahan of George Washington University and the STOP Obesity Alliance. He runs a clinic that provides a medical, psychological and nutritional evaluation before tailoring a plan. In other programs, primary care doctors may offer some counseling and send patients to nutritionists or other specialists for extra help.

5 surprising things that make you slim

Another problem: ?Doctors tend to shoo away people who have obesity. They say, ?Don?t come back to me and tell me your back hurts or you have acid reflux or high cholesterol until you will do something about it,?? laments Kahan, who is teaching medical school students to motivate patients.

What about the overweight? The task force said more study is needed on how best to help them.

But in Reno, Nev., Dr. Andy Pasternak calculates BMI for every patient at his family medicine practice ? and particularly targets the overweight in their 40s and younger for fitness counseling. He says if they wait until they?re heavier or older to get active, arthritis exacerbated by the pounds will be another barrier.

Patients seldom know what their BMI should be, but ?at least twice a day people say, ?What should be my optimal weight??? Pasternak says.

He thinks saying to lose 60 pounds is too discouraging: ?What I try to get them to focus on is: How much are you working out? How many servings of vegetables do you get a day??

High Blood Pressure Hospitalizations For Kids Double | Food ...

Hospitalizations for children with high blood pressure have nearly doubled in recent years, according to new data.

Researchers said the substantial increase may stem, in part, from childhood obesity, which now affects about 17 percent of children and teens in the U.S.

?Oftentimes we think that [hypertension] is a disease of adults,? said Dr. Debbie Gipson, an associate professor of pediatrics and communicable diseases at the University of Michigan Health System and an author on the study. ?This reminds us that our children have hypertension, and they have it enough that they end up in the hospital.?

Pediatric hospitalizations in the U.S. increased from about 12,000 in 1997 to 24,000 in 2006, according to the data, published in the journal Hypertension, Tuesday.

Estimates suggest that between 1 and 3 percent of children in the U.S. have hypertension. According to the American Heart Association,a ?normal? blood pressure level is relative among children, and doctors must make a calculation based on gender, height and age.

Heart and kidney disease can lead to blood pressure issues in children. The authors of the new study found that many children with hypertension in their discharge records were first diagnosed with something else, such as kidney conditions, lupus or pneumonia.

They also found that overall, the average hospital stay for children with high blood pressure doubled compared with those of other ill children. ?Here we see that in children with other health conditions, high blood pressure is complicating things,? said Gipson.

High blood pressure was listed as a primary reason for hospitalization for some children, which may indicate that their health issues are going unchecked.

Texan in stand-your-ground case awaits sentence

(AP) ? A jury is expected to begin deliberating the sentence of a man who claimed Texas' version of a stand-your-ground law allowed him to fatally shoot a neighbor during an argument over a noisy party.

Closing arguments were set for Wednesday in the punishment phase of Raul Rodriguez's trial. Jury deliberations will start after.

Rodriguez faces up to life in prison for murder in the 2010 killing of Kelly Danaher.

In a recording of the incident, Rodriguez tells a police dispatcher he fears for his life and is standing his ground.

Defense attorneys say Rodriguez acted in self-defense, but prosecutors say he was the aggressor.

A Florida neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot an unarmed black teenager, Trayvon Martin, in February is relying on a stand-your-ground law for his defense.

For Newly Married Couples: Best Romantic Bed and Breakfasts Inns in

The affirmations a person uses depend on many factors. What is the person trying to accomplish? Where is he or she now in relation to that goal or dream? What is their belief factor? Is he or she aspiring to something big or just looking for incremental improvement?

One of the biggest knocks critics have against affirmations is that they encourage unrealistic thinking.

It is ridiculous, they say, to encourage a sixth grader who can barely play ?Hot Crossed Buns? on the saxophone to use an affirmation like, ?I am a world-class saxophone player?. That?s just delusional, they argue, to have a child believing something so out of touch with reality.

I absolutely agree!

?What,? you say, ?I thought you were in the business of promoting affirmations and encouraging others to follow their dreams?? I am. And, I still agree with those critics. Oh, I believe emphatically that affirmations are for everyone, but I do not believe every affirmation is for every person.

Yes. The critics are correct. This affirmation is completely unrealistic for any sixth grader who believes it is unrealistic.

They are also correct that a smart sixth grader is probably going to doubt the affirmation at some point. Sooner or later the sixth grader using this affirmation may have the thought, ?I can?t even play ?Hot Crossed Buns?. I?m not a world class saxophone player.?

These two pieces of information do not match up. The sixth grader, like most human beings, will search for a way to make the ideas congruent. When this happens it is decision time for the sixth grader and his or her dream of being a world-class saxophonist. Whether they know it or not the critics are citing and the sixth grader is experiencing a well-known psychological phenomenon called cognitive dissonance.

This theory states that when we hold two incongruent pieces of knowledge in our minds there is a very strong psychological impulse to bring the two conflicting thoughts into agreement. The idea being that our sixth grader cannot hold the thought, ?I can?t even play ?Hot Crossed Buns?,? in his or her mind while at the same time holding the idea, ?I am a world class saxophone player.?

The classic example is the mother on the news who cannot reconcile the baby she brought into the world with the possibility that he may have committed a crime. So, she believes in his innocence even against overwhelming evidence.

Now, here is where the critics? logic fails. They assume, I suppose, that the only option for this newly self-aware sixth grader is to stop using this unrealistic affirmation and stop pursuing such lofty and unrealistic dreams. Basically, ?Give it up, kid, there?s no chance.?

The cognitive dissonance theorists tell us that there are actually three options (besides ?getting real?) open to resolve this dilemma.

Change beliefs ? the sixth grader can change one or both beliefs to be more in line. ?I know I?m not a world-class saxophonist right now, but I can be someday.? He or she admits the first fact and changes the condition for the second to bring them into congruence.

A Close Look at Home Security Products

How a home protected from illegal entry and from burglary is a very common worry today, and understandable you can find constant reports of thefts of most kind, from corporate theft to id theft, the ones need to protect their possessions. Needless to say, the challenge with home security is that it?s not easy to know what home security products work best to maintain your house safe. The quantity of security alarms products and companies are growing, and each one has various items to offer. But before buying more security than your neighborhood jewelry store has, evaluate some of the different kinds of security alarm products and how you can help.

In relation to home security, it?s hard to beat alarm companies for example ADT or Brinks, that sell alarms in addition to provide the monitoring service to go with them, comparable to how cable companies will give you equipment in addition to impose a fee a monthly charge. A security alarm system installed with a professional installer and monitoring is probably the best home security products that your money can buy. These firms offer, along with simple monitoring services, fire monitoring and also deadly carbon monoxide monitoring to keep your family safe. The important disadvantage to these home security products, needless to say, may be the cost. The first tariff of the equipment is usually high, plus some people cannot plan for the monthly fee, regardless of how moderate.

Sometimes increasing the quantity of security your own home has involves just changing the locks. It?s unfortunate to express so, nevertheless the barrier that many people use to have their home from coming in contact with the surface, their door, isn?t a satisfactory block against thieves. Most door jams are created from soft wood, that makes easy of kicking the door in. Perhaps the hole your lock slides into may perhaps be only held in by a few small screws. Hope isn?t lost, though, since easily improve upon this with door reinforcement kits and new strike plates on your locks. For only more security, purchase a heavy deadbolt that will require a vital to start from each side. These home security products are all around at most major diy stores.

Discover choosing an alarm system, you?ll find home security items that operate more as deterrents to thieves as an alternative to whatever else. Most of these work off light, such as motion sensor lighting systems, which may be installed around the house. No thief wants to deal with lights illuminating his entry every step he takes as well as the lights also mean extra security for you when you are getting home, even if you?ve forgotten to turn on your own porch light. Another effective home security method is timers for that lights inside. Some set to make lights on / off at preset times may give the illusion you are home, if you are miles away. Again, things such as this would possibly not stop a determined thief, but a good strong lock and a great alarm system won?t when the body?s desperate enough. Still, whether you go searching for be simple or complex, one or many of these security alarms products will heighten the chances a thief will pick a less arduous target and then leave you and the things safe.

Wolfson confirms the Samsung Galaxy S III will use its audio chip

The Galaxy S III was widely tipped to possess a Wolfson digital-to-analog converter for high quality audio output -- a feature not seen in this range since the first Galaxy S. That notion has just been confirmed by the Scottish electronics firm itself, which says its WM1811 Audio Hub has been selected for use in Sammy's flagship. The chip promises "crystal clear voice call quality" and "enriched audio playback for music and video" thanks to its 24-bit hi-fi DAC, active noise reduction circuits and other wizardry. The GS II, meanwhile, used a Yamaha DAC to convert digital data (e.g. in an mp3 file) into an analog signal that could drive a speaker (for example in your headphones), but even if most people couldn't hear the difference, audiophiles have insisted they preferred the sound in the older Galaxy. The only question remaining, which the PR after the break does not expand upon, is whether the Wolfson hardware is found in all variants of the new phone. Check out the More Coverage links for further reading.

Update: Francois Simond (aka Supercurio) tweeted us to say that the US variant of the GS III uses Qualcomm's own WCD9310 for audio, not the Wolfson. Yup, it's that multi-talented Snapdragon S4 again.

Internet Marketing for Beginners ? 10 Powerful Quick Start Steps ...

Seattle, WA (PRWEB)?Internet marketing for beginners training is something that is not easy to find online. There are many successful businessmen and women that have found success marketing products and services to consumers. Few training programs are available to teach the updated information necessary for beginners to start an Internet business and begin making money quickly. Marketer?s Black Book, the Internet marketing experts, have developed a new and powerful quick start system that teaches the very same 10 steps that the company founders have used to generate a full-time income with no prior business or Internet knowledge. The new training is revealed in 10 easy to follow lessons that can accessed online. The free steps to earning $10,000 a month completely online are available athttp://www.marketersblackbook.com/income-report/quick-start.html.

The business training that is traditionally taught in universities is useful for learners to use this education in the offline world. Jobs in the financial sector, public or private corporations and government employment are common career paths for business graduates. The e-commerce industry has improved the way that businesses conduct transactions online and the way that consumers spend disposable income. Internet marketing is the practice of marketing to online consumers without using the same tactics that are successful for marketers in the offline world.

?Industries like real estate, construction, medical and dental are all transitioning to gain a market share and get a piece of consumer spending,? said Ryan Bush, real estate expert and co-founder of Marketer?s Black Book. ?Entrepreneurs and investors have been behind some of the most influential products and services in the last decade thanks in part to the useful techniques used in Internet marketing,? Bush added.

It is relatively easy to use a domain name registrar to obtain a domain name or pay a web designer to design a website. These costs have fallen in price in the last decade due to more competition in the online marketplace. The millions of domain names and websites that appear online each year are making it more difficult for a company website or individually owned website to be within the first 10 to 20 positions in search engines like Yahoo or Google.

Someone that is learning how to start a new online business or to market one that is already started could benefit from the quick start income report now available from Marketer?s Black Book. Attracting Internet visitors to a website is even something that the largest corporations in the world struggle with doing business online.
