More than 3,000 people from 70 different nations have been married in a mass wedding in South Korea.

The couples tied the knot in the Unification Church ceremony referred to as ?Moonie?, in honour of the ministry?s late founder Sun Myung Moon, who died in September.

A few of the participants looked awkward, which may have been in part because many of the couples had just met a few days earlier, with some not even speaking the same language.

US student Jin Davidson, 21, said he was pretty nervous taking his vows and was finding it hard to understand his new wife, 21-year-old Kotona Shimizu, from Japan.

?We struggle a little to communicate right now, as I speak no Japanese at all, and she only speaks a little English, but we see it as an exciting challenge and proof of our faith.? he said.

Another of the newlyweds, 19-year-old Anna Misook, who married a Congolese-Brazilian groom, said things were going very well since she had gotten hitched.

She added: ?We met four days ago by True Mother?s matching. And we are happy to be here and, yeah, looking forward to life together and yeah It?s a good life, good, we?re happy. We?re really happy.?
